Every neighborhood has something that makes it unique. For Bayside West, it's more than just its location on the water. It's the people, the local traditions, and the feeling that you're part of a close-knit South Tampa community. That spirit inspired my newest Fourth of July anthem, "Bayside West – We Got the Best."
This song celebrates the past, the present, and the exciting future of one of South Tampa's hidden gems.
A Neighborhood Built Around the Bay
One of the first things you'll notice about Bayside West is its location. Bordered by Tampa Bay and connected to the rest of South Tampa, the neighborhood offers waterfront views, quiet residential streets, and easy access to everything that makes this part of the city special.
Take a drive through streets like Bay Vista Avenue, Bay View Avenue, Wallcraft Avenue, Knights Avenue, Coachman Avenue, Oakellar Avenue, or Flamingo Road, and you'll quickly understand why so many people love calling Bayside West home. The bay breeze, mature trees, and neighborhood atmosphere give the area its own identity.
A Community That Comes Together
Bayside West has always been about community. Whether it's catching a game with friends at Mackenzie's Sports Tavern, enjoying an evening at the Green Iguana on Flamingo Road, attending Grace Family Church, or supporting students at Madison Middle School, the neighborhood offers gathering places that bring people together throughout the year.
These aren't just places on a map—they're part of everyday life and part of what gives Bayside West its character.
Looking Toward the Future
Neighborhoods continue to evolve, and Bayside West is no exception. Many longtime residents remember Georgetown, a familiar part of the community's history. While it's no longer here, change also brings opportunity.
Today, there's excitement about what's ahead, with new investment and redevelopment creating optimism for the neighborhood's next chapter. Bayside West continues to grow while maintaining the welcoming atmosphere that has always defined it.
Fourth of July in Bayside West
There is something special about Independence Day along Tampa Bay. American flags wave from front porches. Neighbors gather with family and friends. The smell of burgers and pizza fills the air as everyone prepares for an evening together.
As the sun sets over the bay, children look skyward, waiting for the first firework. Then it happens. A brilliant burst of red, white, and blue lights up the night, reflecting across the water while cheers echo through the neighborhood. Fireworks continue exploding overhead as families celebrate freedom, community, and another summer together. Those are the moments that become lifelong memories.
Why I Wrote This Song
One of my favorite projects has been creating original songs that celebrate the neighborhoods of Tampa. Every community has its own story, traditions, and personality. For Bayside West, that story is about neighbors, waterfront living, hometown pride, and looking toward a bright future.
That's why the chorus proudly says: "Bayside West… We got the best!" It's a celebration of everything that makes this neighborhood special—from its people and streets to its local gathering places and Fourth of July traditions.
Happy Fourth of July, Bayside West! 🇺🇸 I hope this song reminds longtime residents of cherished memories, welcomes new neighbors into the community, and celebrates the unique spirit that continues to make Bayside West one of South Tampa's great neighborhoods.
