Parkland Estates is one of those Tampa neighborhoods where the streets feel like part of the story.
Between Swann Avenue and Morrison Avenue, west of Howard Avenue, the neighborhood is known for mature oaks, curved roads, distinctive homes, and a sense of place that has been carefully built over generations. Streets such as Parkland Boulevard, Fountain Boulevard, Terrace Drive, Edgewood Road, Simms Boulevard, and Forest Drive do more than guide residents home. They create the rhythm of a neighborhood that has remained recognizable for more than a century.
A Gateway to the 1920s Boom
Parkland Estates began during Tampa's major development boom of the 1920s. In 1925, as new subdivisions were taking shape across the city, Parkland Estates was introduced as a planned residential community with an entrance designed to make an impression. Its original arched gateway on Parkland Boulevard represented the optimism of that era: Tampa was growing, families were moving outward from the urban core, and neighborhoods were being designed with their own identity.
Nearly a century later, that identity is still easy to feel. The neighborhood's broad canopy, winding layout, and mix of longstanding homes and newer architecture give Parkland Estates a character that feels both historic and alive. It is not only a collection of beautiful streets; it is a place where families walk, neighbors visit, kids play, and every generation adds its own chapter.
Community Life
Community life extends beyond the homes as well. Simms Park gives residents and families a place to gather, play, and make everyday memories. Saint John Greek Orthodox Day School is part of the neighborhood's family-centered fabric, helping shape the next generation close to home.
Parkland Estates is also surrounded by some of the places that make this part of Tampa feel connected. Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine and Royal Palace Thai bring people together over memorable meals. Hyde Park Softball Field brings the energy of local sports, weekend games, and hometown cheers. These places help turn a neighborhood into a community.
"Parkland Estates, Light It Up"
That spirit inspired the new Fourth of July song, "Parkland Estates, Light It Up." The anthem celebrates the neighborhood's 1925 beginnings, the historic Parkland Boulevard entrance, the familiar streets residents travel every day, and the pride that comes with calling this corner of Tampa home. It is meant to feel like a neighborhood block party: flags on the porch, music in the air, families outside, and fireworks lighting up the night.
On the Fourth of July, Parkland Estates has more to celebrate than a holiday. It celebrates the old oaks that have seen generations pass beneath them. It celebrates the historic streets that hold so many memories. It celebrates the families, schools, parks, restaurants, and local traditions that continue to make this place special.
From Swann Avenue to Morrison Avenue, from Parkland Boulevard to Simms Park, Parkland Estates remains a neighborhood where history and community pride meet. Parkland Estates—light it up. 🇺🇸
