While at Davis Islands Dog Park, a dog ingested too much water and stopped breathing. Thanks to the fast, unhesitating actions of the owner and the people around them, the dog was revived right there on the beach and given a second chance. I happened to capture part of it on video, and the story went on to be picked up by outlets across the country.
What stayed with me wasn't the rescue itself — it was the way people moved. Neighbors, bystanders, and first responders all reacted without a second thought. It's one of those moments that reminds you how strong and how caring this community really is, and it's a big part of why I love representing the people who live here.
