Red Bull Flugtag is exactly what it sounds like: teams build homemade flying machines and launch them off a pier into the water in front of a huge crowd. I was part of Team 5 — five of us who designed, built, and flew our craft into Tampa Bay. We didn't win (we finished 13th), but we flew, and it remains one of the most fun things I've ever been part of in this city.
It's a good reminder that the best parts of living somewhere are the ones you throw yourself into completely.
